have mercy upon us, o Lord

have mercy upon us, o Lord
have mercy upon us,
a prayer for the people
who all of us who journey
who walk the pilgrim’s way
a song of ascents, a prayer
lifted up to the heavens
to the throne of our God
asking for God’s mercy
God’s forgiveness of our sins
