something existential
beyond
my comprehension
such
words of peace, of comfort
within
this prayer, this promise
the
tense of the poem matters
the
ancient words of David
not
that I have been fed
that
God has provided
not
that God is providing
in
this very moment
far
more expansive
a
testament of peace
a
word in the future tense
that
I shall not want
that
God will be with me
that
God will provide
that
I can be at peace
whatever
may come
even
in the darkest valley
within
the shadow of death
even
as my enemies may plot
may
scheme against me
I
shall not want
because
our God is ever with me
