Ezekiel 37:1-17 Complete Jewish Bible
Acts 2:1-21 Voice

“Set A Fire…”

(Set a fire down in my soul. That I can’t contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God…I want more of you God)

The Lord Be With You
And Also With You
Let Us Pray
Prayer for the Spirits leading
Creator God in heaven, you who set your children on fire on the day of Pentecost…we pray for that same spirit to fall upon us this day on those gathered here in this church and in all of your churches around the world. Speak to those gathered in your house today so that we may know your will for our lives. We thank you for your ancient words that still guide us today. I ask that Your Word be heard through me or in spite of me…Speak Lord… we are ablaze for You and Your kingdom. Amen

Listen to and for the Word of God that is found within Acts 2 verses 1 thru 21… There is a message there that is of vital importance…
(Read Scripture)

(Set a fire down in my soul. That I can’t contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God…I want more of you God)

A wild fire®
1.  a highly flammable composition, as Greek fire, difficult to extinguish when ignited, formerly used in warfare.
2.  any large fire that spreads rapidly and is hard to extinguish.

Good morning…happy Pentecost Sunday! In the Christian Calendar I think this is the most important Sunday… It is when we celebrate the birth of the Church…the beginning of the body of Christ. This is the day that the “fire” was lit and has blazed ever since…the fire of the Holy Spirit was birth in the believers then as well as that same Spirit within us now…it continues to burn within us…if we allow it to…that is…

This wonderful gift of Pentecost, the Spirit within us, is the Spirit of God. It enables us to hear God’s voice and guidance. By the power of that same Spirit we can walk on water and not be afraid. We can cry out to the Lord in the midst of our fear for help and step out in faith. You see…we are given the Spirit of power and might. We have that hunger within us to
1.    Learn more about God…
2.    To study God’s Word...
3.    To serve God…
4.    To right wrongs…
5.    To bring more people into the presence of God

(Set a Fire down in my soul. That I can’t contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God…I want more of you God)
Now I have heard some say that a small church…maybe even our church…is not that effective and they want to close said small church…But…but…it doesn’t matter whether the church is large or small, it is this fire that makes us courageously step out in faith to do the mission of the church today. How large was the church when it began on that fateful day so long ago? Not that big…only a few good men (and women) but it was these few men and women that went about spreading the love of Christ that made the church grow to what it is today. Size doesn’t matter. (Set a fire down in my soul. That I can’t contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God…I want more of you God)

Unfortunately, many Christians have become much like the dry bones in the Ezekiel Scripture from this morning…
Read highlighted from Ezekiel…

We need to, no, we have to, reignite that Pentecostal fire within Christ’s Church as well as in the life of every single believer. We need to begin by looking within ourselves. . . within our own mirror to begin the change. Then and only then, we can go forth in Jesus name with that fire down in our souls to spread the hills ablaze with a fire that cannot be quenched. We will be emboldened to go forth, in the name of our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, and preach the gospel to ALL nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and yes. . . the Spirit.

We are hat Wildfire:
1.  a highly flammable composition, as Greek fire, difficult to extinguish when ignited, formerly used in warfare.
3.  any large fire that spreads rapidly and is hard to extinguish.

Ok…you all have heard the chorus I have been singing this morning. Join with me as I sing…let it be your hart song to God…Set a Fire down in my soul. That I can’t contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God…I want more of you God (x3)

Amen
