I grieve so deeply
within my heart, my spirit,
for when I have run away
when I have not felt You, oh God…
 
Great has been my suffering,
my pain, my shame before me,
I have heard the mocking crowd,
I have been a man of derision…
 
Draw near to me, Lord,
Let Your Spirit touch me,
May I feel Your touch,
May I know Your healing…
 
For I have been far off,
a prodigal in my wasteland,
I have put myself in Your place,
My fears become my idols…
