resolve beyond his years

so young at the capture

the first waves of the taking

removed from their land

to another kingdom

resolve beyond his years

to remain faithful

but soft in his protest

in his act of rebellion

standing firm, resolute,

in the face of the challenge

remaining faithful

to his people, his God.

given a mark, a challenge

of who to follow

whether to agree to the path

that had been placed before them

or to be faithful to the path
