surrendered Jesus to their will

becoming passive, out of character,

letting go of his power

surrendering Jesus to their will

and releasing Barabbas

Pilate heeding the angry crowds

giving them what they asked for

agreeing to release a murders

sacrificing the Christ

in the garden, the darkness

late in that night

when darkness reigns

your hour for evil

to gather me in

Christ’s challenge to them
