#Red #parents, #Blue #teachers

Red parents, angry,
blue teachers exhausted
no middle ground
a reflection of the nation
Red states, blue states,
unable to have a conversation
separate languages, a divide.
 
Untied more than united,
a cleavage, a coarseness
to our dialogue,
to the existent
one exists at all
A red and blue nation
no comity, no community.

shards and pieces, a remnant only

hardly able to recognize ourselves

our people, our nation

not able really to see ourselves

as one people, believing,

in even the same facts;

torn asunder, shattered,

a republic, an empire crumbling

like Rome we will be forgotten

absorbed in the dust
