hanging from a pink sleeve

pink scarf hung loosely

hiding a stuffed old friend

her rabbit, fuzzy

its face peeking out

sitting in her mother’s lap

waiting for them to start

her outfit complete

held so tightly

Working the room like a pol

her little body moving
swirling, moving
walking back and forth
joyful in her moving
touching many hands
a smile, a giggle
her little body going
all around the room
the aisle alive, her presence
working the room like a pol
a politician, the unofficial mayor
the concert only a distraction
her body ever in motion

Peace within the din

standing in place
slowing down some
calm within my person
peace within the din

the chorus rising
the audience aloud
seeking safer refuge
peace within the din

over-capacity, more coming
revel in the crescendo
the crowd alive
peace within the din

the concert about the begin
rising to our feet
joy filling us together
