This baby died for us

Christmas the beginning
the start of this story
the gift not complete
until Easter morning

the babe  in the manger
the man who rose on Easter
this baby climbed the cross
this baby died for us

taking on our sin
the shadow of the cross there
over the star, the manger,
on Christmas morning

Dying with him on the cross – v3

Praying for Abba
our hearts aching
our Father’s suffering
in the dying of the Son
the Lamb of God, descended
to the earth, the cross, to the grave

Praying for Abba
crying out with Him
the suffering of our Master
sacrificing our Brother
in seeing his own son dying
there upon our cross

Praying for Abba
for our Savior
hanging in pain, in shame,
to heal our sin, our death
to raise us with Him
dying with Him on the cross

Habakkuk 3:17-19 – v2

17 Though the mills may be shuttered
and the forests are too quiet,
though the potato fields are flooded
and do not provide their harvest,
though the young are departing
for the cities, for greener pastures,
18 yet I rejoice in my God
I will be joyful in Christ my Savior.
19 The Creator of the universe is my strength
I am like the deer, its hooves
steady on Your mountain.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NIV)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Habakkuk+3%3A17-19&version=NIV
17
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.”
Habakkuk 3:17-19 (rewritten by me)
17 Though the mills may be shuttered
and the forests are empty,
though the fields do not provide
their bounty, their harvest,
though the young are departing
for greener pastures,
18 yet I rejoice in my God
I will be joyful in Christ my Savior.
19 The Creator of the universe is my rock
I am like the deer, its hooves
steady on the Mountain.

to God’s Table

Reenacting that night
as they had so long
over a thousand years
their liberation
from captivity
Offering thanks
breaking bread
sharing the cup
coming to God’s table
where we are truly fed.

His Life Already Foretold – v3

A people who were to be guided
anointed by the Father
chosen by God
led by the scriptures
the Word of the Lord

His life already foretold
seeking wise counsel
for the Messiah, the Savior
searching the prophets
for where He would be born

All of the scriptures
from the very beginning
words of joy, of protection
words of power and love
to heal our brokenness

All of Christ’s days
already written
from the beginning
the humble baby
the Lamb upon the throne

Searching for Moose – v4

Down the highway
we flew, toward home
looking in the woods,
looking in the fields, the hills,
all of us watching
desperately, urgently,
looking beyond our vision
the water, the shoulders
seeking our prey
we were searching
for moose,
those elusive,
stealthy moose.
