We are Clay of God’s Earth – v2

No more than dust, ashes
merely clay of God’s earth
made alive by His touch, His hand
gathered and molded
shaped for God’s purpose
Merely clay of His earth
given meaning, identity
His children on earth

No more than dust, ashes
given life by God’s breath
The Spirit abiding
as we live in the vine
His creation, His people
all people on earth
God wants to give us life
Given life by God’s breath

Wanting to be clay – v2

My heart wants to be clay
to be open to change
to turn to the calling
of the Potter, of God;
but sometimes I am stone
my pride in the way
hard when I should be giving
submissive to God
giving my life as an offering
wanting to give my all

Turning My Clay – v2

On the wheel, turning
turning my clay
shaping me once again
when I submit to Him
to His touch, our God
the Potter, creating
making me more holy
oh Lord, thus I pray
Work on me, reshape me
I want to change
pull me from the world;
Christ offering me salvation
showing me the way

Trusting the Potter – v3

Our clay on the wheel
trusting the Potter
the working of His hands
the children honoring the Father
the created to the Maker
giving our lives over
to His loving hands
Our clay back on the wheel
each time we stumble
the hands of the Potter
redeeming our clay

Treasure in Earthen Vessels – v2

Maybe even clay jars are too refined
we don’t yet have the glaze
maybe the words of scripture
holy treasure in earthen vessels
made of the stuff of this troubled earth
born with flaws, sin pervading us
only when filled are we redeemed

The simple earthen vessels, broken,
our cracked bodies, bruised, strained spirits
yearning to breathe free
only when God descends
when Christ fills us
only when the treasure rains down
and fills us from on high

Then we are worthy
even in our sorry state
washed clean by our sacrifice
by his sacrifice of blood
then we share, we shine, we are able
to offer hope to the world
to the ends of the earth

Treasure in flawed clay – v2

We are broken, chipped
yet God chooses us
as Christ chose the fishermen

God’s message is with us
written on our hearts
wanting to share
this treasure within us
in our flawed clay

Our bodies are all too human
yet in spite of our weakness
God’s message shines through

To the Potter’s Hands – v2

Giving myself, my life
fully over, completely,
to the Potter’s hands
Feeling the imperfections,
the rough spots, the blemishes
the dead parts, no longer pliable
as He works them out,
back on the wheel

Giving to His will, the living water,
to the Potter’s hands
upon the Potter’s wheel
born anew, of the Spirit
Making something worthy,
a new creation, a vessel
holding the Spirit,
the breath of the potter

Turning the wheel, molding me
me the clay, giving my all
to the Potter’s hands
feeling His touch
changing me, restoration,
transformation in this life
Giving myself fully over
into the Potter’s hands

to my shards of clay – v2

Adding water, breath,
the Word, God’s love
to my shards of clay;
giving me new life
walking in His way.

Turning myself over
holding nothing back;
wanting to be transformed
to be filled, overflowing
to be poured out in love.

To My Clay – v2

The lump of earth
my life returning
over and over
when I stumble,
when I fall
sinning against God

Going once more, anew
my clay upon the Potter’s wheel
chipped, sometimes shards only
only bits of clay, of dust, glaze,
made supple, renewed
revitalized, redeemed

His precious blood, poured out
washing me, applied
to my chipped, cracked clay
giving me new life
pliable once more
to the will of the Potter’s hands

formed within the stone – v7

within their flesh, their bodies
hidden from view, within
their true self within them
formed within the stone
before their beginning

who they will be
by now firmly rooted
the truth of their being
formed within the stone
before their beginning

encased in the stone
the flesh of their bodies
the path they will follow
formed within the stone
before their beginning

To Feel the Hand of the Potter – v2

To dance with the Creator
to feel the hand of the Potter
guiding my steps in this life
in the touch of my Savior

Living with the Spirit,
moving my trembling feet
sometimes when I am able
willing to walk on the waters

Alive in those moments
the gentle touch of my Brother
steering me safely
through the shadows of this life

The hands of my Maker
as I let the yoke fall upon me
going with my Master
up the hill of Calvary

Only in following the shepherd
to feel his staff’s guiding
only in the touch of the potter
am I bound for eternity

to be living clay, wet to the touch
to remain able to be molded
to feel the touch of God

to be clay, giving, moving,
not to be hard, like stone
unyielding to Your touch

giving to You freely
my whole life, completely
able to be molded
