Without Cheering

A quiet resolve
a sense of some closure;
but the pain still there
our innocence gone

Without cheering
no joy in his killing
believing in our country;
but not parading the body
dragging his corpse
around the city walls

Our hearts different
not choosing to hate
trying to follow Jesus
within the coarseness of this world
