We need to be open
To a wisdom not of this world
Of nuance and meaning
In the words of gifted and blessing
In the mystery of God’s blessing
What it means to be blessed
Not peace, of comfort
But God’s presence in life’s tests
Perhaps most evident
Most easy to understand
In the case of Mary
The mother of our Lord
She was a young maiden
Not yet a bride
Finding herself pregnant
With the child of God
Struggles, and trials
As she watched her son grow
As he entered into ministry
When it was his time to go
There as he was pursued
The powerful upon him
There when they crucified
The living Son of God
