Their choices

The young couple
Not yet married
Engaged, betrothed
Yet suddenly challenged

She was pregnant
He wasn’t the father
An angel saying
This was the Son of God

Their choices,
In those moments
Submitting their lives
To the purposes of God

What would we choose
In the same instance
Would we think of the world
The judgment of man

Would we act in faith
Would we say yes
Willingly facing
The whispered gossip

What they did
In submitting fully
Could we say the same
If we were in their place
