perhaps unwittingly
for their own evil purpose
yet something divine
fulfilling Christ’s calling
a sacrifice for all
one for the nation
healing the breach
formed at creation
the Savior dying
to set us free
the leaders scheming
but God’s plan unfolding
in the sacrifice of Christ
his death on the tree
bringing us back to him
for all eternity
