In the keeping of the Good Shepherd – v2

(a retelling of the 23rd Psalm)

v1 God is my Guide and Protector
I lack nothing.

v2 You lull me to sleep in the rich Garden
beside pools of comfort.

v3 You refresh my spirit;
In keeping with your promises,
You direct me in the way of piety.

v4 Though I should traverse the shadowlands,
on the edge of death, Evil does not stop me
Because You are beside me.
Your power and might
give me inner peace.

v5 You lay out a banquet, a harvest dinner,
before those who hate me.
You pour a blessing upon me;
My joy cannot be contained.

v6 Your Goodness, Your Mercy pursue me
every moment of my life.
I shall live with God
throughout eternity.
