God is as near as the breeze

the breath of God
God’s holy presence
as near as the breeze
that stirs the garden

the love of God
God’s grace upon us
as near as the smile
of a loved one beside us

the hand of God
God’s touch to lift us
as near as the comfort
we long to feel

the Spirit of God
God’s life within us
as near as the next breath
we take into our lungs
