In the memorial of the saints
stopping to remember their sacrifice, their service
sharing the names of our dead
both the clergy and laity
those who will greet us
on the day we enter Your kingdom
Including with these, with them,
congregations no more
hallowed ground now fallow
fields, nurseries ripped up,
abandoned, given back to time
closing doors of your church
Wanting to shout, NO!
when so many are yet lost
the fields white, ready for a harvest
our vision failing, too few to sow, to water
to tend the garden you have created;
feeling we have failed you, oh Lord.
