I have stood before the
pearly gates
to be with Christ, with
Jesus
to walk on that ancient road
with Cleopas and the other
going to Emmaus, walking
home
to that moment of awakening
with the living Christ
yet pulled back down
into the world
to walk here longer
to go in his name
to bear my witness
being salt of this earth
and a light to this world
