“I, the one
speaking to you”,
not some
vague reference
the Messiah
with you present
so clear a
statement
not an
oblique message
a parable,
a metaphor
an analogy
only
his
statements to her
this
unexpected audience
this woman
at the well
speaking to
her, so directly,
a Samaritan
at that.
Jesus, in
no ambiguity,
speaking
his authority,
“I am he,
the Messiah,
the Christ.
I, the one
speaking to
you,”
the hope of
all mankind.
