The commands of God

the Law, the decrees,

rules for the people

how to live in community

Violating the rules

making the festival unholy

a trial on the Passover

in the night, in darkness,

the just tried in secret

The people asleep

evil stalking the room

false accusations flying;

lies would not stick to him

inconsistent, biased

Judges of the people

with a vested interest

to stay in power at all cost,

killing our Savior
