their hesitation palpable
fearing the truth, nakedness,
removing a mask they wear, reflexively,
transparent, bare, exposed,
want to be loved, accepted,
but not feeling enough
uncomfortable, weak, afraid,
withing their own skin
their life an open book…
the truth of their brokenness,
empty, needing contact,
a touch of a partner, someone,
to begin to feel complete,
lost in the maelstrom,
the crucible, a widening gyre,
spiraling, slouching toward oblivion,
snared within their flesh…
