I didn’t trust You to protect me

I say a prayer each morning,
sometimes, multiple times each day
for You to put a hedge of protection around me
filled with the precious blood of Jesus
my risen Savior and Lord…
 
I say the same prayer over loved ones,
those I speak aloud their names.
not with hesitation but through faith,
in Your grace, Your love for me…
 
But for too long You have seemed distant
I didn’t trust You to protect me
from the many attacks against me
I grew scar tissue, defense mechanisms,
I found ways to medicate my pain…
