Why isn’t God’s love enough?

Something deep down inside me
a cry in my inmost spirit,
longing for love, connection,
not always pure, holy,
sometimes of the flesh,
filling a hole where God should be…
Why isn’t God’s love enough?
 
I can articulate the question
the consequence of my brokenness,
but I have not fully discovered the root
the inner hurt still hidden, buried,
deep down inside me, in bondage,
the thing that makes me struggle.
That separates me from God…
 
Do I still hold onto hurt
that I still believe God committed,
nothing I can point to, but I wonder
what is buried down further
feelings tamped down for decades
the root of my struggle…
Why isn’t God’s love enough?
