Pencil #2 – v2

Lead and wood
Fused for a purpose;
Life changes, a future,
In blackened ovals;
Shading, within the lines

Fear, struggle.
Am I right, for each question?
Does it matter?
Waiting excruciating
Success, Triumph!!!

I tried and hoped
Reaching forward;
A brighter star
Richer, fuller
Life, not surviving
Comfortable, smothered

Dreams delayed
My path found again,
Under the bramble.
Years wasted, wandering,
On a scripted path
Others’ choices
No longer mine;
Free to start anew.

Score – v2

My score better than half
But good enough
To get me in
To start anew

Change my life
Move to a new future
New challenges, opportunity,
No safety net

Huge risks
Uncertainty still
Waiting awaits
Until they decide

My score in the books
But good enough
They will choose
They will let me know
