to the temple enterprise

her gift a pittance

nothing of real value

two small coins;

but to her

her gift a sacrifice

all she was given

given to God,

God’s gift

God’s gift coming
courage to walk boldly
into an unknown future
standing together
in the arms of God

God’s gift alive
in that bright future
a legacy, a line

a royal hope forever
from the shoot of that trust
through the seed of Jesse

God’s gift forever
in the seed of Jesus
life everlasting
our hope forever
in the love of God

seeing our children

a royal line

from the widow, the stranger
from the kindness, a kinsman
a hope for a future
a son born to them
a royal line from this
the hope for the nation
a line, a king forever
in the seed of this faith

women and children
the fate of his people
a royal line
a hope for healing

in their hands committed
a trust, a promise
