to have faith to persevere?

May we be like Job,
a challenge for the Devil,
May we be a test for Satan,
because we are faithful to God.
 
May we be like Job,
upright and worthy,
righteous in the sight of God,
ever humble in our walk.
 
May we be like Job,
in our trials, our testing,
May we turn to God, forever,
May we be a blessing.

Lord, I come to You,
On my knees, broken,
Unsure of anything,
Of any good in my life.
 
Lord, I come to You,
In the storm, at a crossroads,
Unsure of everything,
What I should do with my life.
 
Lord, I come to You,
Seeking Your guidance,
Needing Your provision,
Wisdom from You.
 
Lord, I come to You,
Humbly, begging, crying out,
Show me what to do,
Today, right now.

captured on their eyes’ lenses

like a mirror reflecting;

The words of the test

the screen at an angle.

the flickering images

a jaw clenched/released

in time with the reading;

No knowing how well

they will do.

Satan will not win

He has already lost

Christ won the victory

on the rugged cross

the challenge to Job

under the law

different now that Christ came

and rose from the grave

the victory complete

the gathering yet to come

stand firm, resolute

trust in the Lord

we already have this

we are working from the middle

moving to improve

without radical changes

bleeding on the cutting edge

too great a gamble

working first from our strengths

then filling in the gaps

not striving too far

lurking right or left

making progress together
