One Flame Still Burning
After the service
the congregation left
sitting for a moment
in my pew alone
looking at the altar
one flame still burning
reminding me of your light
that never will be extinguished
shining, alive, in the darkness
bringing us all hope
in the grace of God
in a future to unfold
in the timing of our king
