shaping the dream
the idea that is America
coming together of peoples
from all around the globe
a patchwork quilt, a melting-pot
worth far more than gold
Walking in their shadows
our aspirations just as high
that this land would always be free
a shining city on the hill
an example to the nations
of what freedom should be
in a just and peaceful world
