Nestled in the manger
in the arms of his mother
under the natal star
the animals watching
Coming to him
after their long journey
in the face of that baby
the hope of all mankind

The Magi Discovered
Their journey, their quest
following his natal star
leading them to Jerusalem
The king, the theocracy
unaware, scared
frightened by their news
Meeting them secretly
the king, too coy
sending them on
The star appearing
joy in its light
leading them onward
guiding them to his bed
Kneeling in wonder
the king before them
offering him gifts
worthy of his name
Worshiping the child
the infant before them
the living fulfillment
the prophecy of old
Warned in a dream
the treachery of Herod
secretly going
another way home
