our eyes from our Savior
when we seek man’s praises
praises in this life
We miss joy, fellowship
walking with our Savior
we fail to see our neighbors
as clay just like us
Seeking to stroke
egos, pride
failing to satisfy
our true needs deep inside
we are like the vessels
the tombs whitewashed
treasures in this life
yet we are truly lost

Seeking Praise of Men
Seeking praise of men
standing on this spot
bound to the dust
holding onto
treasures on earth
cleaving to that which rusts

Missing God’s Praise
In seeking worldly treasure
praise here on earth
missing God’s praises
life in new birth
Longing for our credit
pride in our own hands
seeking the praise of others
standing on sinking sand
