falling bits of summer
yellow leaves of autumn
the cold snap of winter
sending them falling down
only thirty-something this morning
rising slowly, warmer
bits of yellow paper
littering my backyard
the maples giving up their bounty
this fall afternoon
a harbinger of winter
yet seeds too on the ground
