Redefining Family

Separated from blood
those gathered by faith
Christ changing the meaning
redefining family

The words he spoke dangerous
crowds getting too large
those in power at the gate
the lions in the crowd

Seeking to save Jesus
his mother, his family
coming to take him away
to keep him from harm

But Christ spoke a word
a healing word, defiant
redefining family
who is his sister and brother

Not bound by blood, the body
those who follow the Word
who are obedient to God
those are his family now
