A Resistance Movement

A struggle for justice
for loving our neighbor
a resistance movement
to change the whole world
To seek equality, grace
love for the poor, the oppressed
to upset the tables, the balance
the comfort in power, injustice
Christ’s anger present
overturning the system
centering on his command
to love as he loves us

speaking of the Methodist Movement as a
Resistance Movement,
something that made some people very uncomfortable,
including one long-time Methodist who probably was thinking of John Wesley’s words, “Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can.”
