I could sense an
immediacy
an ache in the realization
that there would be fewer
sermons
that the words of the
scripture
still falling on closed
ears
pain in his voice,
rising,
the repeating, intoning
ache in these words,
said once more
a cry from the Lord
how so many, over time
through all the ages
had never truly heard
He came unto his own
but his own knew him not
lost in this world
not turning to God
