so much of that space,
the sterile hospital room
things in place, just in
case,
something immediate
should happen
tube for oxygen
the IV at the ready
tissues just in case
a sneeze comes over us
a phone in case it rings
bringing us close to
another
a bell to push
to bring assistance running
a basin for the oops. . .
and a receptacle for the
other
