Coming to the Christ
in the house of another
seeking healing
wholeness
an uninvited guest
coming right to him
Christ responding,
healing him
making him well
but first questioning,
the content of their faith
in the cold words alone
Christ healing,
showing real compassion
great mercy
even on the Sabbath
bringing wholeness for the
stranger
in the place where he was
Giving a lesson
important, urgent
overturning their theology
changing their whole world
the rules that they lived by
not nearly enough
God’s love greater, real
than our earthly ways
calling us to welcome all
those in need
offering ourselves freely
giving help to the stranger,
all who are in need
