The Crowd Walks Away – v4

Needing to remember
that story of Mary
in the dusty street
accused, before Jesus
at his feet, afraid
about to be punished

They dropped their stones
their righteous judgment
remembering their own sin
at the words of Jesus
none claiming the right
to cast the first stone

All of them guilty
the same as us now
none better than her
our feet made of clay
they did not stand in judgment
the crowd walked away.
