It grieves, it pains me
not following Christ’s example
never picking up a stone
not standing in judgment
choosing to show mercy
to die for all of us.
I don’t really care
the pain remains
from these words
from such harsh judgment
falling on my brother, my sister
even a stranger, unjust.
Oh you could candy coat it
You could dip it in chocolate
add bright sprinkles
call it what every you like
the expression used
no comfort.
To me, to my ears,
much more so for my brother,
Your righteous judgment,
“Love the
sinner,
hate the sin.”,
is calling him sin.
Your words cutting
into their flesh
however you package it;
the harm remains
They are born how they are
whatever you claim.
