Thank you for your
service
words that were not
spoken
words of judgment,
questioning,
criticism instead for too
many
who served when they were
called;
some of them giving their
all
in the jungles of Vietnam
Thank you for your
service
for your sacrifice, for
your burden,
simple words, appropriate,
on this day, all year
long;
Going where we would not
go
Standing for our freedoms
out in this dark world
Thank you for your
service
for your sacrifice
to each veteran,
and at their gravesites
for your answer to our
call;
Serving nobly, bravely
giving us your all
Thank you for your
service
for your sacrifice, your
burden,
simple words, appropriate
on this day, all year
long;
It is the least we can
say
for, because of you,
we share freedoms every
day
