I wonder in reading
the chapter to the people
members of his flock
the musings of this shepherd
the manic drive,
the thing deep within him
striving to undo
the harm that he caused
the injury to the church, to God
The words of transformation
of all that he became
driven to share, convicted,
that others may be brought to life
that the message be shared
in all languages, traditions
that he may share, freely,
in the blessings of salvation
by grace, not works, alone
Does this tell us, revealing,
more about the apostle
who preached of salvation
of all the means of grace
yet he himself is the driven
zealot
aware of his unworthiness
trying to claim salvation
by the work of the Spirit
the sharing of the Gospel
Didn’t he see, couldn’t he
the scales from his vision,
given new life, new eyes,
that the thing he professed
becoming a slave to all
that they may be freed
the saving by grace
for him like all the rest
for life eternally
