contemporaneous notes

“Jesus is our superhero”
-
Mystery Box – Iron
Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Scooby Doo
and
a candy cane
-
candy cane
o The candy cane reminds us of Christmas, when we
celebrate the birth of Jesus
o A superhero was born to us
o He alone can wipe away all of our sins with His blood.
-
Hulk
o Like the Hulk, we are like Bruce Banner, mild
mannered, maybe a little weak
o When we get upset, we are like the Hulk
o Through Jesus, even when we are weak, we can become
strong with Godly muscles
-
Captain America
o Captain America fights for justice.
o We have the love letter of the Bible which shows us
Godly justice.
o We are to fight for God’s truth, God’s justice.
-
Iron Man
o Iron Man has a suit of armor and
o We are reminded to put on the armor of God
§ put on the belt of Truth
§ shoe our feet in the Gospel of Grace
§ put on the breastplate of Righteousness
§ wear the helmet of Salvation
§ we carry the shield of Faith to protect us from
everything
§ and we wield the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s
Word.
-
Scooby Doo
o Scooby Doo is Shaggy’s sidekick
o God gives us a sidekick, the Holy Spirit of God
o We never walk alone
o The Spirit speaks to us, guides us to fight for truth,
justice, and the Godly way.
