I can remember so clearly
now, in reflection,
how we all froze,
how we lost our hunger,
at these words of Jesus
as we sat around the
table.
“One of you will betray
me;
Peter, you will deny me;
all of you will run away.”
these words to chasten,
to wick the excitement
what joy we had
in the upper room
then silence fell upon us
contemplating these words
of Jesus
how we felt, especially in
reflection,
horrified at what we had
done,
knowing all the words were
true.
