people are sheep – v3

like the mob of Palm Sunday

singing, shouting, “Hosanna”;

how quickly they turned and

angrily shouted, their cries to Pilate,

“Crucify!” on Friday.

how quickly they burn

the palms of Palm Sunday;

how quickly they turn to ashes,

how easily they are destroyed,

right before our eyes

the only explanation

for the change in behavior

that people are sheep;

the crowd on the street,

and the mob before Pilate.

it is amazing how fast

the palms burn; how quickly

our joy turns to ashes,

how quickly “Hosannas!”

turned to “Crucify Him!,”

our Savior and Lord.
