Cutting me to my core
a wedge piercing my heart;
anguish at the pain I had
caused
denying the Son of God.
There in David’s city
by the Temple of God;
I had denied my Savior
my brother, my Lord.
Pain in the eyes of Jesus
the Messiah, the Christ;
there in the dock of
injustice
in the hands of the
corrupt judge.
My denial so powerful
just what He had said I
would do;
denying him three times
before the cock crowed.
Pain in the eyes of Jesus
the King become the Lamb;
my sin already transferred
because I denied the man.
God going to the cross
dying in brutal shame;
crucified at least in part
because I denied His name.
