A call from the pulpit, to
us,
the words ringing true to me
on the role of the church
and of faith communities
to bring compassion, value
to our communities, to our
families;
We must share words of
worth,
to restore honor, trust in
one another
in America, on this earth,
to those who are
marginalized
those considered others
that they are not part of
our group
The solution must come from
us
from the people, it will not
come
from the government, whether
state of national
our hope is not in some giant
corporation
The shift, the restoration
of honor
must start in the
communities
in real communities of faith;
Standing against the tide
the way of the flesh, of the
earth,
offering them Christ, the
God-hope,
that Spirit that beats
within our chest;
Sharing meals, prayers,
Christ’s message,
offering others the same
hope
We must take the lead
to restore honor, value
in our communities, in our
hearts,
leading us to lift up our
neighbors
those out on the streets;
Reclaiming the sense of
community
of oneness, of our purpose,
coming together, to lift up
to elevate the status of
each other
to see all of them as family
all of us as beloved children
of God

Habakkuk
3:17-19 (NIV)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Habakkuk+3%3A17-19&version=NIV
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The
Sovereign Lord is my
strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.”
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.”

3:17-19 (rewritten by me, one version)
17
Though the mills may be shuttered
and the forests are empty,
though the fields do not provide
their bounty, their harvest,
though the young are departing
for greener pastures,
18
yet I rejoice in my God
I will be joyful in Christ my Savior.
19
The Creator of the universe is my rock
I am like the deer, its hooves
steady on the Mountain.
