Describing Colors – v3

My limited language, nuanced,

different meanings, illusions

perceptions of colors, of shades, hues;

brand names, Crayola,

the color wheel, a spectrum

plants, fruits, sky and cloud.

All a palette from which to choose

to try, in tenuous fashion

to capture wonder, beauty,

God’s utter perfection

in too-small, inadequate words.

Describing colors, to bring memory

to find common understanding

using the names of nature

to describe the colors I see

hoping that they will be meaningful

to all who read my words.
