“Breathe Breath of God…”

The Lord Be With You
And Also With You
Let Us Pray
(Prayer for the Spirits leading)

Listen to and for the Word of God that is found within Acts 2 verses 1 thru 12… There is a message there that is of vital importance…
(Read Scripture)

Good afternoon…happy spring…it really has sprung around us. Spring is my favorite time of year. I love the newness and hope it brings. After a long winters nap. It is time for the earth to rise from its slumber.

This past Sunday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday! In the Christian Calendar I think this is the most important Sunday… It is when we celebrate the birth of the Church…the beginning of the body of Christ. This is the day that the “fire” was lit and has blazed ever since…the fire of the Holy Spirit was birth in the believers then as well as that same Spirit within us now…it continues to burn within us.

God breathed His breath of upon those men and women and they and we ae forever changed…They were able to speak the Word on God in ways that others were able to understand…in their own language. They were not able to do this before but now…now. Even today we are able to share the gospel…where they are as he Spirit helps us “speak their language”…speak to them within the context…the situation…the backdrop …of where they are.

This wonderful gift of Pentecost, the Spirit...the breath of God… within us, is the Spirit of God. It enables us to hear God’s voice and guidance. By the power of that same Spirit we can walk on water and not be afraid. We can cry out to the Lord in the midst of our fear for help and step out in faith. You see…we are given the Spirit of power and might. We have that hunger within us to
1.    Learn more about God…
2.    To study God’s Word...
3.    To serve God…
4.    To right wrongs…
5.    To bring more people into the presence of God

But there can be times that our lives…our faith journey can seem a little dry and lifeless…much like a desert. We try to find a cool breeze that will bring back some sort of life into our souls. We need a fresh wind of God to come and blow across our desert places and breath new life into something that we may think is dead…

I Ezekiel there is a time when God brought the prophet to a desert of dry bones…unfortunately, many Christians have become much like the dry bones in the account. Listen to what happens as the bones that Ezekiel encountered were just that…bones… God reignites…recreates life out of lifelessness. It is found in Ezekiel 37:1-10…Read scripture from the Voice Bible

Those lifeless bones came together but it wasn’t until the Ruach Elohim, the breath of God, came upon them that they became alive again. These bones were dried up until the winds of change came upon them. It was then that there was new life again.

Even in our own lives. We may feel that there are parts that are dead…sometimes long dead…but…but, as God enters the picture, new life is reborn. I think that maybe that is why I love Spring so much. When I look around in winter, everything seems dead and still. But when the warm breezes of spring come, new life erupts again, and those dead desert places become alive and vibrant again. Spring reminds me of my own life and how there are those beautifully bloomed moments that take my breath away but there are also those seemingly dead seasons where everything seems so dull and lifeless… Then as the breath of God brings the Spring rains it blooms again even more magnificently than it did before.

Spring has sprung around us with newness and beauty. I pray that the gardens of your souls are in full bloom and if they are not. I would like to encourage you to know that God is willing and able to breathe His breath of new life and bring the spring rains and you will once again be in full blossom…if you but ask…and then you shall receive…

Amen
