The paradigm must change

The leader unimportant, for there to be
change that is need, for there to be peace,
he is a symptom, not the cause of strife,
autocracy, power, the nation state,
a terrorist nation, unburdened
by the value of self, serfs instead,
valueless fodder for the cannons
for the march toward empire
needing the paradigm to change
but how will it in time, in this moment,
a cancer, a virus, flowing through their veins…
 
Gogol was right, in his condemnation,
the whole of Russia, the same evil,
baked in the cake, engrained, resistant,
a virus indwelling, resurgent, autonomous,
outside of the leadership, a manifestation
of evil, the Devil, hubris with the body,
a nation of “Dead Souls”, unfeeling,
not valuing human life autonomy,
individual identity, striving, progress,
settling for poverty, corruption,
at peace with nothing, without any hope…
 
The leader could be toppled, a coup,
an assassin at the ready, but the state
will not change, the paradigm stuck
in the frozen wasteland, the expanse,
the myth of their people, the lies
that they have been told, propaganda,
for many generations, centuries
of spiritual subjugation, a toll too great
for peace to come within the system,
only to be defeated, to be dissolved,
destroyed, with nothing left…
