Decades of pain that they have carried,
Shame for the sin done against them
when they were all innocent victims,
of the evil of powerful men…
Buried in hearts made silent, vigilant, guarded,
Someone you love was abused, is in pain,
Their heart has kept them silent, crying secretly -
They feel shame for the sins others committed…
Other women you know in life, in Congress, today,
when you see these survivors standing courageously,
together at our nation’s Capitol, pleading with you
for justice, for courage, to stand with the victims…
even if they are silent, in pain, crying,
quietly bearing decades of forced secrets,
in shame for the sins others committed,
stealing their joy, their innocence…
