The Creed he lived by – v2

The Creed he lived by
repeated, repeated,
being part of something,
greater than himself…

Plunged into service,
into love, sacrifice,
conscious of his flaws,
giving of himself…

The Creed he lived by
part of America,
The Dream, the vision,
of who we are as a people…

The Creed he lived by
repeated, repeated,
being part of something,
greater than himself…

applause like rain – v2

In the midst of her pain,
in her grief, her profound loss
as she spoke words of love
for the man, her father,
saying these words, his creed,
that “America was always great,”
in the great cathedral…

Listening to these words,
hearing the response
applause like rain, thundering,
echoing off the marble
hard-wood boards of the pews
the fabric of our nation
testifying to what we believe…

The Bear and the Dragon - v4

The Bear and the Dragon
and the #NewBabylon
apocalyptic worlds colliding
on the news, on the ground,
destruction, atrocities, unspeakable crimes;
Where will our hope be found?

The King of the North
hordes from the steppes rampaging,
golden fields now of blood,
Death, Famine, War, Conquest,
the four horsemen on the march;
Is Armageddon to come?

the fragmentation of this moment

 the fragmentation of this moment

the fragmentation of this moment

our people divided, shattered

not believing the same truth, the same facts,

split into camps, tribes, factions,

resolute, entrenched, not believing,

not trusting in the one America

that is true itself, whole, united,

the dream, the idea of this nation,

the words written on the page

the words that lift us up
